Winter is in reverse around here. No sign of temps heading out of the 30s and 8 inches of snow on the ground. Thank the heavens there’s music. It was a big tent night on the Barndance as we spread the wings into Texas psych and deep
soul to go with the usual odds and ends. On the psych end, it was Texas music of a different stripe as we shined the spotlight on the brand new 2-CD Roky Erickson anthology “I Have Always Been Here Before” on Shout! Factory. It’s a
beauty. Also featured music from the brand new Solomon Burke recording called “Make Do With What You Got”. Burke performs at the Mohegan Sun on Saturday night. Followed our Burke set with a dose of serious Southern soul to send
things out on a simmering note. A bunch of releases making their Barndance debuts this evening including new ones from Dallas Wayne, Sarah Borges, Audrey Auld Mezera, M. Ward, Andrew Bird, and local heroes Dave Howard & the High
Rollers. Buttshaker of the night???? Gotta give it to the aforementioned Dave Howard & the High Rollers with “Old But I Ain’t Dead”. Now onto the goods…..
