7 inches of snow, temps in the single digits, it’s been a cruel, cruel week
here in Southeastern New England. The goal of The Boudin Barndance this
evening? To break us out of the doldrums of late Winter. No doubt the
Jerry McCain & His Upstarters 7-incher at show’s end must’ve helped. In general, a
mixed bag on tonight’s program. Being the anniversary of the plane crash
that took their lives, we remembered country stalwarts Patsy Cline, Cowboy
Copas, and Hawkshaw Hawkins. Birthday salutes went out to the late(s) Bob
Wills, Townes Van Zandt, and Furry Lewis. New additions to the Barndance hit
parade included recordings from New England hero Sarah Borges & the Broken
Singles, the extremely intriguing William Elliot Whitmore, and Cyndi
Harvell. Buttshaker of the week???? The aforementioned Mr. McCain with
“Rock & Ball”!!! Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods……
