One of those odds and ends nights on the Barndance where impatience ruled. Featured a few songs in the 1st set from The Coming Grass who play a show in the area this weekend. Spotlighted the new reissue of Clifton Chenier’s first
release for Arhoolie Records called “Louisiana Blues & Zydeco”. This reissue marks the first time the recording has been released in stereo. Simply put, if you’re any kind of zydeco or blues fan, this recording is essential goods.
Other recent recordings making the Barndance hit parade for the first time included releases from Kathleen Edwards, Holly Wiliams, The Believers, and Eddie Angel. Buttshaker of the night???? The Paragons with a tough little instrumental called “Scramble”. Now onto the goods…..
