Temps in the 30s. Snow in the forecast. Ahhh, Springtime in New England.
It did not cut into the doings on the Boudin Barndance this evening. Lots
happening. We paid a birthday salute to the late country great Lefty
Frizzell with a set of goodies from the Bear Family box. Featured music
from performers playing in the area this weekend, that being Eilen Jewell
who is at the Bank Street Cafe tomorrow evening, Wussy who appear at Cafe
Nine in New Haven (www.cafenine.com) on Saturday night, The Stumbleweeds who
plays Jake’s in Providence on Saturday night, and Gurf Morlix who plays a
house concert hosted by yours truly late Sunday afternoon
(www.myspace.com/rootshoot). New releases making the Barndance hit parade
fro the first time included recordings from Vince Thompson, Randy Thompson,
Rodney Parker, and Patrick Bloom. Buttshaker of the week???? Moon Mullican
in a runaway with “Pipeliner Blues”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get
to the goods….
