Well, it’s May and we still can barely get out of the 50s here in Southeast New England. The Boudin Barndance went as deep as the 30s tonight as recent as, well, a couple of months ago. We previewed upcoming shows from Eilen Jewell (Saturday at The Knick in Westerly) and Neko Case (Wednesday at Lupo’s in Providence). Did a mini Tex-Mex set what with Cinco de Mayo being tomorrow. New releases from Eliza Gilkyson, Rod Picott, The Silos, and Matraca Berg all got 1st time Barndance spins this evening. Lee Dorsey, Yo La Tengo, Kitty Wells, Syl Johnson, Ha HaTonka, it was the usual this-or-that mix on the show. Buttshaker of the week???? From the upcoming Eilen Jewell release, “Queen of the Minor Key” with Jerry Miller tearing it up in ever tasteful fashion. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
