One of those 12 pounds of potatoes in a six pound bag nights on the Barndance.
In other words, we could’ve used another hour to squeeze everything in. Kicked
off the show with a birthday remembrance of Johnny Paycheck and a big set of of
honky tonk nuggets from the late, great one. Featured music from Audrey Auld
Mezera who plays two shows in the area, one at Cafe Fantastique in Worcester on
Saturday evening and a house concert hosted by yours truly here in South
Kingston, RI on Sunday afternoon. Previewed the Lucero and Preacher’s Kids show
at Jake’s Bar & Grille in Providence on Saturday night. Also on the bill is
Cory Brannan. Featured music and gave away a pair of tickets for the Fred
Eaglesmith/Roots on the River Music Festival weekend happening June 9 – 12 at
various locales in Bellows Falls, VT. Info at www.rootsontheriver.com. The
Newport International Film Festival is next week from June 7 – 12 and will
feature the films Be Here To Love Me, You’re Gonna Miss Me, and Press On
focusing on the late Towns Van Zandt, Roky Erickson, and Robert Randolph,
respectively. Closed the Barndance with a set of music from those three

there was a whole bunch of releases making the Barndance hit parade for the
first time. They included new or upcoming releases from the duo of Caitlin Cary
& Thad Cockrell, a single from Laura Cantrell’s upcoming longplayer, Radio
Nationals, The Greencards, John Prine, Ray Mason, and Lucero. Buttshaker of the
night???? Roky in a runaway with “You’re Gonna Miss Me”. Now onto the
goods…..
