Check out www.greenriverfestival.com. Previewed James Hunter’s show at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River tomorrow night (June 25) (www.ncfta.org). HBO’s Treme’ has been providing plenty of inspiration for the Boudin Barndance during its run with songs from Tommy Tate, Irma Thomas, and Allen Toussaint all part of the Barndance mix this evening. Recent releases making their Barndance debut tonight were the recent tributes to Shel Silverstein and John Prine, a release of newly found material from the late Blaze Foley, a Blue Shadows retrospective, Volume 3 of the Bobby Fuller El Paso Rock series on Norton, Syl Johnson Hi Records reissue, Cindy Bullens, the latest from the Pernice Brothers, and a 7″ from Henry Dunkel (split with Dan Sartrain). Buttshaker of the week???? Cedell Davis with “Chicken Hawk”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
