It was back in the Boudin Barndance saddle this evening after a couple of weeks or r&r. It was a busy show. We did a set of Evan Johns music in honor of his birthday today. We previewed music from Austin-based band Okkervil River who play at Jake’s Bar & Grill in Providence on Sunday night as part of a two-night New England stand. Featured music from some of the folks (Neko Case, SCOTS, James Hunter) appearing at the Green River Balloon Festival in Greenfield, MA on July 21. New releases making the Barndance hit parade for the first time included recordings from Jason Isbell (who plays in New London on Sunday afternoon as part of Sailfest), The Gourds, Cornell Hurd Band, The Bourbon Dynasty, The Gore Gore Girls, and the soundtrack to the Roky Erikson DVD You’re Gonna Miss Me. Buttshaker of the night????? Well, because I got to Graceland during my two weeks off, we give the nod to Elvis with “Viva Las Vegas”. Now let’s all have a cold one and get to the goods…..
