About as full a plate as you can have on this evening’s Boudin Barndance. We featured live music from local country band The Outhouse Trio. A combo whose avergae age is 78, the group plays once a month (2nd Sunday of the month) as part of the open mic festivities at the Wood River Inn in Wyoming, R.I. (They’ll be playing from 8 – 9 PM this Sunday.) Featuring dobro, guitar and bass with Rocky on the vocals, these guys are creaky in a good kind of old country way. Check ’em out. We featured some music from the late, great guitarist Hank Garland whose biopic called “Crazy” is being shown as part of the Rhode Island Internationl Film Festival this week. There’s a local showing of the film at the Narragansett Cinema in Narragansett at 7 PM on Sunday evening. We once again featured music from Wilco who play at Tanglewood (www.tanglewood.org) on August 12 and gave away another pair of tix to the show. We featured music from Lucero and Justin Townes Earle who along with Glossary make up a nifty triple bill at the Living Room in Providence on Saturday night (www.myspace.com/livingri). Finally, in conjunction with a big tribute concert happening at the H&H Ballroom in Austin, TX this coming Sunday, we featured music from Tex-Mex accordion ace Esteban “Steve” Jordan who will be feted at the event. Also featured some music from some of the bands taking part in the tribute. As if that wasn’t enough, we also managed to sneak in a few first timers with new releases from Carrie Rodriguez, Old Crow Medicine Show and The Sacred Shakers. Buttshaker of the week???? El Parche himself, Mr. Steve Jordan with “Kranke”! Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
