The Boudin Barndance was multi-purpose this evening. The first hour was devoted to a bunch of new releases, many of which were making their Barndance debut. The next hour found us pretty much mired in Memphis with a mix of old and recent stuff spanning Elvis to John Paul Keith. With the 3rd anniversary of his passing approach (Aug. 15), we devoted the last hour of the program to Jim Dickinson featuring tracks from a cross-section of albums he was involved one way or the other with. A monster in the world of music who doesn’t get quite the credit he is due. New releases making the Barndance hit parade for the first time included local hero Bob Kendall, Caroline Herring, Shannon McArdle, Amy Cook, The dBs, Derek Hoke and keeping with the Memphis theme, River City Tanlines and the new Elvis “fans” collection. Buttshaker of the week???? Jimmy Hufton takes the prize with “Cool Cats.” Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
