The first Boudin Barndance of September was a full one. We kicked off with a brief preview of the Narrows Festival of Arts happening at the Narrows Center for the Arts (www.ncfta.org) in Fall River on Sunday. It’s a free event running from 11 am to 7 pm and some of the performers include Sonny Landreth, Sarah Borges, Grace Potter and the Wood Brothers. Featured a number of tracks from the newly released Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys collection from Legacy Recordings. A terrific variety of Wills material spread over 4 CDs and spanning his entire recording career, it innaugurates Legacy’s new Legends of Country Music Series. Other new releases making the Barndance hit parade for the first time included recordings from Jim Lauderdale, For Her & the Snow, Tracy Huffman, and Guy Clark. Buttshaker of the week????? Carl Perkins with a real cool tune from his Sun days called “Dixie Fried”. Now onto the goods….
