Lots of bouncing around on tonight’s Boudin Barndance, not to mention
breaking out a bunch of new ones for the first time. In the spotlight this
was the recent 40th anniversary collection From Elvis in Memphis which spans
two CDs of two classic 1969 Presley albums along with bonus tracks and mono
singles. Pretty great stuff. Previewed Marsha Ball’s show at The
Knickerbocker Cafe in Westerly this Saturday night. Sharing the bill will
be Johnny Nicholas & His Texas All-Stars. A bunch of albums making their
Barndance debut tonight including WPA, the Wailin’ Jennys, Stephen Kellogg
& the Sixers, Kris Kristofferson, Blue-Eyed Blacks (belatedly), James Hand,
Will Hoge, and the Mark Mulcahy song tribute “Ciao My Shining Star”.
Buttshaker of the week???? The Gibson Brothers (the Memphis based act!)
with “Memphis Chicken”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the
goods….
