We revived an old pre-Halloween Boudin Barndance tradition this evening with our “boogie hour”. Ya know, boogie = boogie man = halloween-ish. (Opened with some songs Halloween in spirit, too.) Based on the phone calls, the fans loved it. Featured music from Neko Case and Calexico (i.e., Joey & John) who appears at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in Providence on Saturday, November 14 (www.lupos.com). A bunch of new & recent stuff Barndance debuts this evening including new ones from Chris Scruggs, Radney Foster, Danny Barnes, Chuck Prophet, Lissie, The Blind Boys of Alabama “Duets” collection, Jack Oblivian (circa-90s stuff), & vintage gospel from Designer Records (via Big Legal Mess) from Reverend Douglas Bell & The Stage Cruisers. Buttshaker of the week???? Staying on the boogie note, Gene Price & The Chordsmen with “Duck Call Boogie”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
