The WRIU transmitter, namely power to it, fell victim to Superstorm Sandy. Hence, it was a webcast-only evening on The Boudin Barndance tonight. We thank all the faithful who listened in and those who called to say they were out there. What with Halloween being postponed to Saturday in these parts due to the wallop the storm delivered to South County, we began with a set in the Halloween spirit courtesy of the neat Ace collection “These Ghoulish Things.” We sent our best wishes out to the Norton Records folks whose warehouse in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn took a beating by playing a set heavy on the Norton side. And like father, like daughter, my Brooklyn-based youngest worked all day at said warehouse helping with the cleaning effort. From there, it was a mix and match rest of the show. Lots of new things making their Barndance debut this evening including albums from Wanda Jackson, Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson, Morrison & West, Southeast Engine (who play a house concert hosted by yours truly on Nov. 9), Sarah Lupo, David Olney, Greg Brown, and a new tribute to New London based rockers The Reducers. Buttshaker of the week???? In the Halloween spirit, Bo Diddley with “Bo Meets the Monster.” The Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
