We thank US Airways for tonight’s Boudin Barndance program (because they got my ass back to R.I. in time to do the program). So what did we do? In between lots of odds & ends, we featured two shows upcoming this weekend: Eilen Jewell at The Knickerbocker Cafe in Westerly on Friday night (www.theknickerbockercafe.com) and singer/songwriter Otis Gibbs (www.otisgibbs.com) playing a house concert hosted by yours truly here in Peace Dale on Saturday night (e-mail [email protected] for info). Featured music from the sampler CD from Yeti Nine magazine (from Portland, OR based Yeti Publishing). It’s all over the map and we zeroed on mostly gospel material on the disc. New releases making their Barndance debut this evening included recordings from Drew Landry, Dan Baker, Dan Hicks (at the Met Cafe on 12/4), The Parting Gifts, The Greenhornes, and Steve Wynn & Miracle 3. Buttshaker of the week???? From the aforementioned Yeti 9, the Reverend Lonnie Farris with “What Mother Can Do”.
By the way, next Thursday will be the Thanksgiving edition of The Boudin Barndance and we’ll keep with our long standing tradition of saluting the late Doug Sahm. It’ll be our 12th annual. Tune in.
