Well, December has entered like a lamb in these parts as we broke the record today for a high temperature. One can only hope…. As for the Boudin Barndance, no big features on this evening’s program. We remembered a honky tonker and a bluegrasser each of whom passed away in the last week, that being radio’s tallest singin’ cowboy Big Bill Lister of “Tear In My Beer” fame and Jack Cooke who played bass and sang with Ralph Stanley for lots of years. Beyond that, we mixed it up. A bunch of releases making their Barndance debut this evening including new ones from Los Cenzontles, Steve James, Dave Rawlings Machine, The Singing Southern Echos of Memphis (reissue), Louie & the Lovers, Jonny Burke, Lyle Lovett, and an EP from Jack Oblivian. Buttshaker of the week???? Jack O. from that aforementioned EP with a nifty instrumental titled “Cigarillo”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
