First off, I have to apologize for last week’s lack of a show. We were supposed to be pre-empted by URI hoops, but as has happened every time in the recent past when we were supposed to be pre-empted the game did not happen (i.e. production snafu). Suffice to say, three hours of hardly borderline okay hip hop was what you got. Out of my control. Anyway, it was back to the business of a Boudin Barndance radio show tonight. On it, we remembered the guitarist Mickey Baker who passed away on Nov. 27. Previewed a great double bill happening on Saturday night at Billy Goode’s in Newport featuring the Bob Kendall Explosion and Mark Cutler & The Men of Great Courage. It’s a holiday food drive, to boot, so if you’re heading there bring some non-perishable food items. Also previewed Bill Kirchen who plays The Knick in Westerly on Saturday night. A few new releases making their Barndance debut tonight including records from Andrew Combs and Rachel Brooke (big thumbs up on each) and a Xmas goodie from The Sweetback Sisters. Buttshaker of the week???? Mickey Baker takes the big salami with “Third Man Theme.” Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
