The Boudin Barndance in the summer? Made for porch-sittin’ and cold drink sippin’. At least that’s the MO we work towards. The Newport Folk Festival is this weekend and it fueled a few sets this evening, one sprinkling in tracks from artists playing Joe Fletcher’s pre-fest kickoff event at the Newport Blues Café on Thursday night and another dipping into a bunch of the Sunday performers. Because we had to put the Barndance on autopilot the last half hour to get to the aforementioned Fletcher event, we turned to The Baseball Project to close out the last half hour. They delivered the goods this past Tuesday in these parts in New London. New albums making their debut on the Barndance hit parade included records from Curtis McMurtry, Ron Gallo (of Toy Soldiers), and Chris Smither. Buttshaker of the week???? Birthday boy Tony Joe White with “Chaos Boogie”. Now let’s all grab a cold one, or two, and get to the goods….
