It was one of those evenings where we could’ve used another hour to get in everything in we had planned. In other words, 4 hours of Boudin Barndance squeezed into 3. On the agenda this evening, well first off a ticket giveaway to the The Autumn Defense show at the Narrows in Fall River on Feb. 7. We did both a preview of the new deluxe reissue of Uncle Tupelo’s first album No Depression and gave away a copy of it (courtesy of Legacy Recordings). On its 55th anniversary coming up on Monday, we remembered The Day the Music Died with a set from Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper. A new feature courtesy of the Bloodshot Records 2014 calendar is a look back at their January releases, that being the Waco Brothers’ Cowboy in Flames and The Meat Purveyors’ Sweet in the Pants both from 1997. New releases making their Barndance debut tonight included albums from Robert Ellis, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Annie Ford Band, Girls Guns & Glory, the Sweetheart 2014 compilation, Rod Picott, The Autumn Defense, Lake Street Dive, John Hammond, Scott H. Biram, and a 7-incher from Bobby Bare Jr. We also attempted to warm things up a bit with a short blast of surf tunes from the Cowabunga set. Buttshaker of the week???? Lee Bains III & the Glory Fires with “Centerville”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
