A wide open Boudin Barndnace this evening and a chance to spread the wings after a few weeks of live guests. Previewed a bunch of upcoming shows in the area: Paul Burch playing a house concert hosted by yours truly on Saturday night (www.myspace.com/rootshoot); Jenny & Johnny at the newly reopened Met Cafe in Pawtucket on Friday night (www.lupos.com), and Charlie Musselwhite at The Met on Saturday night. Lots of releases making their Barndance debut this evening including new ones from Jamey Johnson, Halden Wofford & the Hi-Beams who has RISD roots, Yvette Landry, Trevor Alguire, Lissie, Sonny & the Sunsets, Mavis Staples, and a new 7″ from Jim Mize (with arguably one of my favorite songs of the year). Buttshaker of the week???? Little Papa Joe from 1955 with “Looking for My Baby”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
