A full plate on the Boudin Barndance tonight dominated in large part by new releases getting their inaugural spin. Features included a salute to the Red-Headed Stranger, Willie Nelson, who celebrates his birthday on this same day, and our annual Cinco de Mayo warm-up set featuring a slew of South Texas Tex-Mex tunes from various Arhoolie Records releases. As for those Barndance first-timers on the new release front, new albums from Catherine MacLellen, Slaid Cleaves, Bearfoot, Bob Frank & John Murry, Felice Brothers, Diana Jones, John Doe & the Sadies, Arty Hill & the Long Gone Daddies, Li’l Mo & the Monicats, Los Straitjackets, and Bay Area piano man Sid Morris all made their debut. Buttshaker of the week???? Armando Almendarez with “Boppin’ the Rock”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
