Back to Boudin Barndance business tonight after a week off to visit the Midwest. Once again, we’d like to thank all who contributed to our annual Radiothon fundraiser a couple of weeks ago. A busy night on the Barndance this evening. We welcomed special guest singer/songwriter Malcolm Holcombe during the final hour of the show. Malcolm played some live stuff, chatted about all kinds of things, and we played a few from his latest record “Gamblin’ House”. An entertaining cat for sure and hopefully the segment will be in the listener archives in the next few weeks. Malcolm is also playing a sold out house concert hosted by yours truly on Saturday night. We remembered Leona Chavis, wife of the late Zydeco wildman Boozoo Chavis, who passed last weekend. Take ’em off and throw ’em in the corner! Yeah, you right! We celebrated this past Saturday’s Record Store Day by playing some in-person vinyl from purchases at Dusty Groove records in Chicago and Von’s in West Lafayette, Ind. And finally, a number of new albums making their Barndance debut this evening included new stuff from Dale Watson, Lost Country, David Serb, and Amy Laverne. Buttshaker of the
week???? The late Boozoo Chavis in a runaway with “Dance All Night”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
