A Word about Tonight’s Show:  Again, tonight we dispensed with theme, a concession to my rebellion against formality, and not purpose, Tonight we featured  threads, not suits. A thread of film music based on adaptations of literature, a thread of film music featured in stories of children, both real and imagined, both two-legged and four-legged.  And as always with these mixed shows, turns of humor from this time around,  Mel Brooks, Albert Brooks. Dick Shawn and The Muppets. Plus a tribute to the invincible singer, songwriter and actress Peggy Lee.

Not everything’s a curveball, but there is enough off-speed and offbeat stuff in the mix to keep you loose.
