A busy night on the Boudin Barndance this evening. We remembered Austin-based
harp player Gary Primich who passed away unexpectedly on Sunday. One of the
nicest, down home, regular Joe’s could ever meet, he made some pretty darn
decent records and always brought something to the table no matter the venue or
configuration. Featured music from the Mekons who bring their 30th anniversary
tour to the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA (www.ncfta.org) next
Thursday. New releases making the Barndance hit parade for the first time
included fresh ones from Merle Haggard, Charlie Sizemore, Jim Lauderdale, and
Legendary Shack Shakers. Buttshaker of the night????? Gary Primich covering
Smiley Lewis’ “Jailbird”. Now let’s
