Aired out all kinds of stuff on the Boudin Barndance on this beautiful late summer evening. In the spotlight was the new box, and we mean box, set from Magnolia Electric Company. Titled Sojourner, it’s a breath of fresh air on the packaging front what with 5 discs (4 CDs and one DVD), postcards, poster and MEC medallion all packaged into a fresh little pine box. By the way, the music from Mr. Molina and various company is pretty darn good, too. New releases hitting the Barndance hit parade for the first time included fresh ones from Steve Earle, Joe Henry, Red Stick Ramblers, Heavy Trash, (hey ho!) Jim Dickinson, and the aforementioned Magnolia Electric Company. Buttshaker of the night????? I’m giving it to the legendary Dickinson with “You Better Rock Me Baby”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods…..
