It hit me tonight that May marked 20 years of operation for the Boudin Barndance in the 6 – 9 PM time slot at WRIU. Boy, time flies. The last Thursday in May doubled as the birthday of the late Johnny Paycheck, so in remembrance we struck up a set of his music. Featured music from Paul Burch who plays a house concert hosted by yours truly on Saturday evening. Lots of albums making their Barndance debut tonight including new or recent recordings from Kelly Willis, Jenny Owen Youngs, Mary Karlzen, Ed Pettersen, Patrick Sweany, Olav Larsen & the Alabama Rodeo Stars, and Patty Hurst Shifter. Buttshaker of the night????? A swirler courtesy of Chuck Hatfield & the Treble-aires with an old circa-1950s Fortune recording called “Steel Wool”. Now let’s have a cold one and get to the goods…..
