A busy evening on this first Boudin Barndance of February. We remembered Steel Guitar Hall of Fame member Tom “Wolf” Morrell who passed away on Monday with a set of tunes. We also remembered the day the music died, Feb. 3, 1959, with tracks from Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens. Also featured music from Alejandro Escovedo who appears at the Narrows Center for the Arts (www.ncfta.org) in Fall River, MA on Saturday night. New or recent releases making the Barndance hit parade for the first time included recordings from Over the Rhine, Martha Scanlon, Audrey Auld Mezera, Spicewood Seven, Michael Weston King, and belatedly the Old Towne School of Folk Music Songbook Volume 1. Buttshaker of the night???? Ritchie Valens with “Come On, Let’s Go”. Now onto the goods….
