First off, just a reminder that we will be conducting our annual Radiothon fundraiser from April 2 – 9. Mark your calendars as we’d love to hear from you.
Now let’s get down to business. We welcomed Jack Smith of Jack Smith & the Rocabilly Planet into the studio this evening for likely the last time. The occasion was Jack playing his final show on Saturday night at the Bank Street Cafe in New London, Connecticut (www.bankstreetcafe.com). A Rhode Island treasure, the Barndance has been a big supporter of Jack through the years and Jack a big supporter of the Barndance. A class act all the way, a major life change has brought an end to the creative juices and he’s ready to call it quits. Hopefully you can get out and see him. Also on the plate this evening was a celebration of the music of Austin rock and rollers the LeRoi Brothers who celebrate 25 years in the business with a big show down Texas way on Saturday night. Also worked in some new releases including recordings from the Crooked Jades, Rough Shop, Max Greene, and The Weisstronauts. Buttshaker of the night????? Let’s call it a shuffle instead and give it to the aforementioned Mr. Smith with a beauty of his called “King of the Show”. Now onto the goods…..
