Thu Nov 6 Acoustic Alchemy Acoustic Alchemy continues to defy genre labels, blending their signature nylon and steel guitar sound with a wide range of influences. On 33 1/3, the band explores jazz (“A Little Closer”), blues (“Blues for Mr. Mu”), Caribbean rhythms (“The Girl With A Plan”), Eastern melodies (“East of Babylon”), and classical forms (“Allemande,” “Prelude in D Minor”). Despite the diversity, the album still feels distinctly like Acoustic Alchemy. As Miles puts it, “The band has changed a lot over the years… but we always somehow make it sound like Acoustic Alchemy. $35

With its unique jazz sound, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is considered to be one of the greatest bands of all time. The present Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently since, playing an average of 300 live dates a year all around the world. Sat Nov 15 The Levin Brothers 7/8pm $44/48 Growing up in in Brookline, Massachusetts, Pete and Tony Levin were trained in Classical music but were also attracted to and influenced by the 1950’s jazz recordings by bassist Oscar Pettiford and French horn player Julius Watkins. Both were encouraged by Brookline’s music faculty to pursue music careers. Pete went to Boston University SFAA and then to The Juilliard School in New York City, Tony to The Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. After graduating, Tony also moved to New York City. By the 1970’s. both were active in the New York City music scene, doing recording sessions and playing live.
