Recent reissues of four early albums by Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers from Omnivore Recordings were in the artist spotlight on this evening’s Boudin Barndance. It marks the first time these have been released on CD. Jonathan appears at the Columbus Theatre in Providence next Thursday, October 20. Began the show with an hour of new and recent releases followed by our weekly C&W segment. Saluted birthdays of John Prine and Jon Langford before the Richman set. Closed out with a bunch of blues and soul. New releases and singles making the Barndance hit parade for the first time tonight came from Kendell Marvel, Sarah Lee Langford & Will Stewart, J.D. Clayton, Flatland Calvary, Dailey & Vincent, Hazel Dickens & Alice Gerrard, and the new album from Plains. Buttshaker of the week???? Mickey Baker with “Guitar Mambo” to close the show.
