Live shows and birthdays and of course, Elvis, set the stage for the Boudin Barndance this evening. The Elvis feature, which closed the show out, was a no-brainer what with today being the 30th anniversary of his death. Visited Graceland back at the end of June and while it’s something all music fans need to do, once is enough. As for the live previews, the big event is soon-to-be newest Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Mel Tillis who plays two shows on Saturday at the Washington County Fair. Other noteworthy live events are Travis Tritt (Friday at Twin Rivers), Marty Stuart (Sept 2 at Rhythm & Roots) and Pam Tillis (early September at Twin Rivers). Birthday remembrances? Lots this month what with Elvis, Buck Owens, Billy Joe Shaver, Chuck Guillory, Connie Smith, Don Rich and Champ Hood. New releases making the Barndance hit parade for the first time included Evan Johns and teh Numero Group compilation “Twilight’s Lunar Rotation”. Buttshaker of the night????? TCB with Elvis on “That’s All Right”. Now let’s all fetch a cold one and get to the goods…..
