A string of beautiful days continued in these parts, so hopefully some of you Barndance listeners took us on the porch or wherever you may have been. The big event on this evening’s show was a preview of the big event in these parts this weekend, the annual Rhythm & Roots at Ninigret Festival which happens at Ninigret Park in Charlestown, RI beginning tomorrow (Friday) and continuing through Sunday. Check out www.rhythmandroots.com for the whole scoop. Our festival preview was almost the entirety of the 2nd half of the program. We devoted the first half to a mix of stuff that included first time Barndance spins for new releases from the late Janice Martin, The Mavericks, Dwight Yoakam, The Black Swans, Charlie Mars, The Flatlanders, Liam Fitzgerald & the Rainieros, and Firewater. Also previewed The Black Swans show at the Fete’ Lounge in Providence on Saturday night. Buttshaker of the week???? Keepin’ it in the Rhythm & Roots spirit, Geno Delafose & French Rockin’ Boogie take the big boudin with “French Rockin’ Boogie”.
By the way, next week we welcome local hero MARK CUTLER onto the Boudin Barndance. Mark will be on from 8 – 9 pm talking about and playing tracks from his new album Sweet Pain. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
