Stringer, and Andre Williams.
An out-of-the-ordinary evening on The Boudin Barndance as we focused on
upcoming live shows in the area, remembrances of a couple of recently
departed R&B/soul icons in Rudy Ray Moore and Nathaniel Mayer, and birthday
remembrances of late legends Gram Parsons, Doug Sahm, & Ike Turner. By the
way, speaking of Doug Sahm we’ll be doing our annual Boudin Barndance Doug
Sahm extravaganza on Thanksgiving evening (November 27) from 6 – 9 PM. As
for the live show previews, we listened to music from Reckless Kelly &
Reverend Horton Horton who play Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in Providence on
Wednesday (Nashville Pussy also on the bill) (www.lupos.com), The Eilen
Jewell Band who plays the Bank Street Cafe in New London, CT on Saturday
night (www.bankstreetcafe.com), and Kris Delmhorst and Shelby Lynne who play
the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA (www.ncfta.org) on Friday
(Nov. 7) and Thursday (Nov. 13), respectively. Played one from local band
Lukcy 57 who get the Your Roots Are Showing series back into action this
Saturday at the Liberty Elm Diner in Providence
(www.myspace.com/libertyelm). Finally, we played a couple of tracks from
local hero Thom Enright for whom there is a benefit on Sunday at The Hi Hat
in Providence from 3 – 11 pm featuring acts ranging from Roomful of Blues to
Ken Lyon to Rizz. Buttshaker of the week???? Dolemite himself, Mr. Rudy
Ray Moore with “Hully Gully Fever”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get
to the goods……
