A mix ’em up night on the Barndance this evening. Previewed music from a couple
of the four bands performing as part of the November installment of the Your
Roots are Showing series happening Friday (11/19) at the Century Lounge in
Providence, that being the Drunk Stuntmen and Lucky 57. Lots of Barndance
1st-timers as well as far as spins go. Making the hit parade for the first time
were recent releases from Neko Case, Hopped Up!, Black Keys, Tom Gillam, Frog
Holler, Lustre Kings, Deke Dickerson (a new 7″ with Los Straitajackets), The
Gourds, Volume 5 of the Greetings from Area Code 207 series, and a new
compilation of smuggling-related Tex-Mex stuff from Arhoolie called Roots of the
Narcocorrido. Buttshaker of the night????? Ray Campi with “Rockin’ at the
Ritz”. Now onto the goods…..
