First off, our WRIU Radiothon fundraiser kicks off on Monday (April 6) and runs for two weeks thru April 20. The Boudin Barndance edition happens next Thursday night (April 9) and we’ll be asking for your support. You can make a donation by going to the WRIU homepage and either clicking on the radiothon image on the page or on the DONATE button at the top of the page. As for tonight’s show, we remembered two special artists who passed in the last few weeks in Jon Dee Graham and Chip Taylor. Each has had plenty of airplay on the Barndance over the years and I was fortunate enough to be able to host each artist (Chip was with Carrie Rodriguez) as part of my long-running Roots Hoot House Concerts series. Remembrance sets for each were during the final hour of the show. We also remembered bluegrass artist and singer/songwriter Ronnie Bowman who also passed during the last few weeks. We began the show with our usual hour of mostly new and recent releases before moving into our weekly C&W segment. New albums and singles this evening came from Joe Pernice, Elvis Presley, Bonnie Montgomery & Melissa Carper, Charlie Marie, Ryan Bingham, Morgan Nagler, Bella White, Margo Price from the upcoming Guy Clark Old No. 1 tribute, Leah Blevins, Dale Watson, and The Sky Chiefs.
