As per Thanksgiving Evening tradition on the Boudin Barndance radio show going back to 1999 shortly after his passing, we gave thanks this evening to the music of Doug Sahm in all its various forms. We devoted the 7-9 pm segment to all things Doug from Sir Douglas Quintet material to various solo and bandleader stuff. The first hour of the program featured a side dish of Bob Dylan beginning with his lengthy number “Murder Most Foul” which has become the Alice’s Restaurant for The Boudin Barndance and then showcasing selections from the recently released Volume 18 of the Bootleg Series focusing on early material from the mid-to-late ‘50s through his 1963 concert at Carnegie Hall. Buttshaker of the week???? An all-time buttshaker, “The Tracker” from the SDQ. Now let’s all grab a cold one or three, and get to the goods….
