What with the cold, cold weather along with the upheaval on the government front, it has had me itching to get my rock & roll ya-ya’s out on The Boudin Barndance and we did that tonight devoting the last hour of the program to letting it loose. Prior to that, it was an hour of mostly new releases to begin the show. We did sneak in a couple of songs from Jenny Owen Youngs who plays a house show here on Friday. From there it was into our weekly C&W segment followed by another set of new stuff and then into the R&R segment. New albums and singles making the Barndance hit parade for the first time tonight came from Jason Isbell, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Julian Baker & TORRES, Lonnie Holley, Miss Tess, Lily Seabird, The Minus 5, Sunny War, The Mallett Brothers, The Blasters (live recording from 1982), and a brand new compilation of singles from The World Famous Bluejays (thank you Jay S-G for sending!). Buttshaker of the week???? The Fleshtones covering “Down to Tijuana.” Now let’s all grab a cold one or three, and get to the goods….
