Back in the studio this evening after a couple of weeks out on the West coast where travels took us from Joshua Tree, CA to LA to Portland to Bellingham, WA. A gorgeous summer day in these parts (and people tell me it was the first decent weather day of July). As Barndance shows go, tonight’s show was a mash-up of stuff heavy on the birthday salutes. Lots of first time album and singles spins tonight from artists such as The Flatlanders, Hiss Golden Messenger, Faye Webster, Courtney Barnett, Andrew Bryant, Cory Grinder & the Playboy Scouts, Jim Lauderdale, Charlie Parr, Esquela, Amythyst Kiah, and Nina Simone. Buttshaker of the week???? Birthday boy the late Evan Johns with “Moonshine Runner.” Now let’s all grab a cold one, or three, and get to the goods….
