The 1st Boudin Barndance of 2005 was a busy one. We began with a remembrance of
the late guitar great Hank Garland by featuring two sets with him in an
accompaniment mode and then a set with some of his feature work from both the
country and jazz sides. Also on the menu tonight was a look back at some
favorite reissues from 2004 led by the collection focusing on the soul sounds of
Bettye Swann. She rules! Also found time to work some new entries onto the
Barndance hit
parade including three fine new hinky tonk releases from Justin Trevino, Curtis
Potter, and Darrell McCall, respectively, all out on Heart of Texas Records.
Buttshaker of the night????? I’d say the A-Bones & 5,6,7,8s with “We’re Gonna
Get Married”.
