We closed January with a chock-full Boudin Barndance this evening. Among the features were a remembrance of the Day the Music Died with a set of tunes from Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper and a sampling of some of the tracks from the Oxford American’s annual Southern Music issue with the focus on sounds from Louisiana. We continued to break out lots of new releases with albums from Tim Easton, Rob Lutes, Amanda Pearcy, Beki Hemingway, Max Gomez, Holly Williams, John Corbett, and Dolly Vardenall making their Barndance debut. Buttshaker of the week???? The Big Bopper takes the prize with “Bopper’s Boogie Woogie”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
