Cold as a witch’s you know what here in Southern Rhode Island. The aim of the Barndance this evening to make folks forget about the ice plant outside. We kicked off with a cut from Waylon Jennings in remembrance of his passing five years ago. Featured cuts from some of the artists appearing at the annual Mardi Gras Ball in Cranston on Saturday night. Closed things out with some fife & drum music and country blues from Mississippi and Memphis. In between the usual odds and ends. Stuff making the Barndance hit parade for the first time included new releases from The Silos, Southern Culture on the Skids, Steak (reissue of 1999 release), Lucinda WIlliams, and the Holmes Brothers. Buttshaker of the night???? From 1952, a 17-year-old Lloyd Price with “Chee Koo Baby”. Now onto the goods….
