The first Boudin Barndance of May means we are entering our anniversary month, that being 27 years of broadcasting out of this same 6 – 9 pm EST slot every Thursday at WRIU. Time flies, brother. Tonight’s show was a mixed bag of stuff. We did preview Saturday’s show at The Knickerbocker in Westerly by Brooklyn soul band The Revelations with a few from their brand new album. A mini Cinco de Mayo set closed out the show. Lots of releases making their Barndance debut tonight including new ones from Glen David Andrews, Tommy Malone, Brigette DeMeyer, Turchi, Dash Rip Rock, The Howlin’ Brothes, Buzz Cason, Old 97s, Jessica Lea Mayfield, The Revelations, Candi Staton, and the late George Jackson. Buttshaker of the week???? The aforementioned George Jackson with the pure Fame studios soul sound of “Break Away from Me”. Now let’s all grab a cold one or two and get to the goods….
