The M.O. for this evening’s Boudin Barndance arrived last Friday with the passing of George Jones. We devoted the entire 2nd half of the program to all things Possum (and let me tell you, we didn’t even come close to the tip of the iceberg that is the George Jones catalogue). Notification of the passing of Memphis music legend Sid Selvidge just after we went on the air resulted an an impromptu tribute set in remembrance of him. (We’ll get to a few more on next week’s show.) A number of recent releases making their Barndance debut tonight including albums from Marshall Chapman, Ashley Monroe, Nora Jane Struthers, Ruth Moody, Patty Griffin, Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors, David Mayfield Parade, and William Tyler. Buttshaker of the night???? A no-brainer on this evening of Jones with “Who Shot Sam” taking the prize. Now let’s all grab a cold one, or two, and get to the goods….
