Despite the wetness, Spring may have finally sprung here in Southern New England. It certainly provided inspiration for this evening’s Boudin Barndance. A mixed bag of vittles on the program. We remembered Memphis music man Sid Selvidge who passed away a week ago in the Bluff City. Also remembered soul singer and songwriter George Jackson who passed away in mid-April. Previewed area weekend shows by Big Sandy (at the Narrows in Fall River on Friday), Eliza Gilkyson (at Common Fence on Saturday), and Daddy Long Legs (at Dusk in Providence on Friday). New releases making their Barndance debut tonight included albums from local band Tallahassee, Warren Hood Band, Willie Nile, Peter Rowan, and the recent Spindle City Americana Festival compilation from the Narrows Center for the Arts. Buttshaker of the night???? How ’bout them Daddy Long Legs with “Shackin’-Up”. Now let’s all grab a cold one, or two, and get to the goods….
