Well, a couple of weeks ago we celebrated the impending birthday of Hasil Adkins on the Boudin Barndance only to find out upon returning home that he had passed away two days earlier. Tonight we paid tribute to the one-man, West Virginia racket squad with a solid 30 minutes of his wonderful noise, all of it courtesy of Norton Records. Put simply, a one of a kind who will be missed.
Also featured some tunes from Rosie Flores who performs at the Bank Street Cafe in New London, CT tomorrow (Friday) night. Several new releases making the Barndance hit parade for the first time tonight. Leading the charge was the latest release from the Horton Brothes called “Tempo For Two”. Like past releases, it’s a real good one. Other first-timers included a new live recording from Heybale, a Mel Street greatest hits collection, and the release from the band calling themselves Heavy Trash with Jon Spencer one of the principal components. Buttshaker of the night???? It’d be a crime if it wasn’t The Haze. He takes the cake, or shall we say the chicken, with “Chicken Walk”. Now onto the goods…..
