Back in the Boudin Barndance saddle after a week out West (Utah, Wyoming,
Montana) on vacation. We welcomed Joy Lynn White and singer/songwriter Arthur
Godfrey during the first hour of the program. Split the time with live versions
of their songs in between tracks from each artist’s latest record. For Arthur,
it is the album Amen on his own Stampman Records. Joy Lynn has a new record due
out in September, however, we made due with tracks from her most recent release
from 2003 called On Her Own. We remembered Big Al Downing who passed away
Monday night with his classic “Down On the Farm”. Also played catch-up on a
host of new releases. Making the Barndance hit parade for the 1st time were new
ones from Adrienne Young & Little Sadie, Jim Mills, Dierks Bentley, George
Strait, Lucinda Williams, Son Volt, Jackie Greene, and Legacy Recordings
collections from Marty Robbins, Dolly Parton, and George Jones & Friends.
Buttshaker of the night???? It’s gotta be Big Al Downing with “Down On the
Farm”. Now onto the goods…..
