Crammed a bunch of stuff into the Boudin Barndance this evening. First off,
welcomed some artists taking part in the World Visions World Voices music/dance
program happening at URI all this week (http://www.uri.edu/mcc/). Local artists
Chris Turner & Rachel Maloney and Atwater/Donnelly performed live in the studio.
Previewed the July installment of the Your Roots Are Showing series which
happens tomorrow (Friday) night at the Century Lounge in Providence with the
Damn Lovelys, Ware River Club, Dennis Brennan, and hosts Lucky 57 all
performing. Gave a sneak preview of the first five releases from Sundazed
Music’s new “Truckstops, Broken Hearts, & Honky Tonk Heroes” reissue series.
First up are reissues of 1960s albums from Red Simpson, Dick Curless, Hank
Thompson, and Kay Adams. Other releases making their Barndance debuts tonight
included new ones from Ruthie Foster and The Forty Fives as well as one of two
Red Allen reissues. Buttshaker of the night????? The King of Dieselbilly
himself, Bill Kirchen, with “Guitar Boogie Shuffle”. Now onto the goods…..
