A full plate on The Boudin Barndance this evening. We remembered the late Buck Owens on the anniversary of his birthday. Local heroes The Cobra-Matics (www.myspace.com/thecobramatics) joined us in the studio to preview tracks from their upcoming new album called “Play the Notes”. They play locally at the Ocean Mist in Matunuck on Saturday night. We previewed the upcoming Phosphorescent show at Club Hell in Providence on Saturday night by playing tracks from the latest two releases. Also gave away tickets to the Rhythm & Roots at Ninigret music festival (www.rhythmandroots.com) which happens Labor Day weekend in Charlestown, R.I. What with the one-year anniversary of his passing this Sunday, we devoted the entire 2nd half of the program to Jim Dickinson featuring tracks from a cross-section of albums he was involved in one way or the other with. A monster in the world of music who doesn’t get quite the credit he is due. Buttshaker of the week???? Gotta be The Jesters with “Cadillac Man’ featuring Dickinson on the vocals. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
