Back in The Boudin Barndance saddle tonight after a 10 day jaunt to the front Range in Colorado. Saw plenty of pretty country and drank mucho great beer courtesy of the terrific breweries in Fort Collins and thereabouts. Anyway, good to be back on the Air. A couple of tributes in the Barndance spotlight this evening. First up, we remembered the great “Cowboy” Jack Clement who passed last Thursday. Simply put, a giant in music. Secondly (and with today being the 4th anniversary of his all-too-early passing), we devoted the last hour of the program to the late James Luther Dickinson featuring tracks from a cross-section of albums he was involved in one way or the other. A monster in the world of music who doesn’t get quite the credit he is due, IMHO. Also featured a set of music from some of the artists making their debut at the upcoming Rhythm & Roots Festival here in R.I. happening on Labor Day weekend. New releases making the Barndance hit parade for the first time included albums from Dead Soldiers, Caroline Rose, Glen Campbell, Vince Gill & Paul Franklin, Fruition, Halden Wofford & the Hi Beams, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, and Tim Easton. Buttshaker of the week???? In remembrance of Jim Dickinson, The Jesters with the earth-rattling “Cadillac Man”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods
