It’s been like the tropics in these parts the last week of so and it was up to The Boudin Barndance to help cool things down. An air conditioned studio didn’t hurt one bit from the broadcast side. our main focus this evening was remembering musician, producer, and historian Jim Dickinson who passed away in Memphis last Saturday. We devoted the last hour to a variety of projects he had a hand in from producer to sideman to performer. A loss to Memphis akin to Austin losing Doug Sahm a decade ago. We also remembered the ‘Mayor of South Austin”, Danny Roy Young, on the one year anniversary of his untimely passing. Previewed music from folks coming to The Knickerbocker Cafe in Westerly this weekend, that being The Reducers on Friday evening and Paul Geremia & Johnny Nicholas teaming up on Saturday evening. New releases making their debut on the Barndance hit parade included releases from Delbert McClinton, PorterDavis, and Booka & the Flamin’ Geckos. Buttshaker of the week???? The late Jim Dickinson with a blazing, over-the-top version of “Wine”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
